Baby Fish Congee with Jujube, Broccoli & Mixed Mushrooms | 6+ Months

$7.80
Halal frozen baby meal • Baby-led weaning friendly • Suitable from 6 months onwards*

Our fish congee for babies combines soft Jasmine rice with tilapia, broccoli, jujube and mixed mushrooms for a comforting meal with plenty of flavour and variety.

Inspired by familiar Chinese-style congee, we've added ground peanuts, anchovies, ginger, garlic and sesame oil to introduce little foodies to ingredients and flavours commonly enjoyed around our own tables.

With fish and peanut included in the recipe, it gives families an easy way to maintain allergen tolerance in their little foodie's meal rotation once these allergens have been safely introduced.

From chicken and grains one day to fish and mushrooms the next, Plate & Play makes it easier to build variety into what your baby eats across the week.

How long can I store the meals for?

As our meals are free from preservatives, we recommend consuming them as soon as possible. Dishes are best consumed within one month from the date of receipt/purchase. Always ensure the meals are stored safely and appropriately in the freezer.

How do I reheat?

You may use any form of reheating for the dishes such as double-boiling, steaming, microwaving, and on the stovetop. As every appliance differs, adjustments to the reheating time may be required.

Here are some guidelines:
Microwave:
- For dishes:
Reheat for 3-5 minutes on medium-high. Note that different appliances may require adjustments to the time.
- For finger foods:
Reheat in increments of 15 seconds. The usual sweet spot is between 30-45 seconds on medium-high.

Double-boiling / Steamer:
Steam around 10-15 minutes until thoroughly hot (not just warm).

Stovetop:
Recommended to reheat from a defrosted state in the fridge. Cover with a lid to distribute heat evenly. Heat around 5-7 minutes until the food is thoroughly hot.

Air Fryer:
Not recommended to reheat dishes. For finger foods, heat around 3-5 minutes until the food is thoroughly hot.

What if I want to travel? How can I store the meal?

Use a well-insulated cooler bag with sufficient ice gel/ice packs; keep travel time under 6 hours max. Roughly 2-4 hours depending on quantity, under 8 tubs holds for about 2 hours, larger quantities hold cold longer (3-4 hours). Freeze again as soon as possible.

On arrival, ask your accommodation to store the whole cooler bag in their central freezer (not just loose tubs, to avoid cross-contamination)

Check if your accommodation offers reheating help or has a microwave/stove available

For meals on the go, transfer reheated food into a reliable thermos or lunchbox to keep it warm until mealtime.

Frequently asked question

Baby-led weaning is a feeding approach where babies are given safely-textured table foods and allowed to self-feed, rather than being spoon-fed purees. It's associated with supporting oral motor development, pincer grasp and jaw development.

Yes. Meals are made with BLW-friendly textures, but every dish can also be blended down after reheating to a smoother, spoon-feeding consistency, so families can use whichever approach suits them.

Yes. Plate & Play meals can be blended down to a spoon-feeding consistency after reheating, so families who spoon-feed exclusively can use the meals just as easily as families doing baby-led weaning.

No, and they don't need to. Plate & Play meals are designed to be your baby's weekly staples, so cooking becomes something you do when you want to, not something you're obligated to do every day.

Yes. All Plate & Play meals are delivered frozen using cold-chain delivery. Someone needs to be available to receive the order and move it into the freezer promptly.

No. Plate & Play meals are made with no added salt, sugar or preservatives.

Plate & Play dishes are suitable from 6 months onward unless stated otherwise. Infant portions suit babies roughly 6-12 months, and Toddler portions suit 13-24 months, though bigger appetites can extend toddler portions to 3-4 years.

Choose a bi-weekly or monthly delivery frequency, select your meals, and Plate & Play automatically delivers baby and toddler meals on that schedule, so the weekly rotation is sorted in advance.

Meals can be reheated by microwave (3-5 minutes medium-high for dishes, 30-45 seconds for finger foods), double-boiling or steaming (10-15 minutes), or on the stovetop from defrosted (5-7 minutes covered). Air frying is not recommended for dishes.

Since the meals contain no preservatives, they're best consumed within one month of receipt when stored properly in the freezer. Once thawed in the fridge, consume within 24 hours.

Meals are delivered frozen via cold-chain delivery, Monday to Saturday, typically arriving within 1-2 working days between 3pm-10pm. Self-collection is also available at the East Village Mall store.
